Last weekend over two dozen artists, musicians, filmmakers, fashionistas, photographers and zinesters made ART FOR FU%Ks SAKE 2 an indie-arts extravaganza not soon forgotton. AND over 10% of the crowd registered to vote in the next election. Not bad after a long Saturday afternoon of catching & throwing beads and cabbages!
If you're still hungry for indie film and music, mark your calendars. On SAT., APRIL 3 ten18 films presents a special FLICKER: Music in Film Edition. Short films with soundtracks that rock.
Because even though music's never quite the answer, it is the soundtrack to our lives. And when great music finds its way onto the soundtrack of a great film, you're sure to find something inspirational (if not just downright entertaining) on the big screen.
We've selected a batch of movies that heavily rely on their stellar soundtracks to carry the film. Plus we'll feature music videos that happened when local bands and media artists collided.
FLICKER on April 3 is for those of you who can't choose between music and film as their true love. Doors open at 9 at the HOWLIN' WOLF (828 S. Peters Street).
After the films MACROSICK takes the stage. But the movie screen wont go dark when the live music begins... this band combines video elements with their music and the result brings a new intensity to the old tagline "Is it real or is it Memorex?"
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS A SHORT FILM OR MUSIC VIDEO YOU WANT TO SCREEN... mail/deliver/boomerang a copy ASAP to be showcased in FLICKER. There are a few slots left for local filmmakers.
