Hello film aficionados,

As you know FLICKER, New Orleans Short Film Festival, returns to the Howlin Wolf THIS FRIDAY at 9pm. This installment of films smells of young Kubracs cross pollinated with little Coppolas (Francis Fords & Sofias!) served over Polanski on the rocks. You'll know what I'm talking about when you watch the film about a junior high school kid who slips on a spacesuit and claims to be an alien every time his classmates tease him.

And you'll have a chance to watch the New Orleans premiere of an animated short that boasts both Oscar and Sundance Film Festival gold.

There are lots of local filmmakers featured at this FLICKER too... Jason Vowell, Minor Strachan, Kay Gelfman, Timothee Hammond, Evan Presses, Mark Morris and Jason Affolder to name a few.

All in all, on FRIDAY we're serving up a well-groomed mix of local, national and critically-acclaimed short films.

You can expect more from the Howlin Wolf too... we're raising a screen that's 25% larger than past showcases. And to maximize your movie-watching-alcohol-guzzling-film fan experience, a second bar will be open to make more room for mixing and mingling. Perhaps you'll fall in love with more than great films at FLICKER!

I'll be making the radio rounds this week to talk more about what you can expect at Friday's show... Listen to "Your Weekend in New Orleans" on WWNO 89.9 Thursday at 4:50pm & Friday morning at 7:35 for a special segment profiling ten18films. And on "FLICKER Friday" tune to WWOZ 90.07. I'll join Chris Lenois LIVE sometime a little after 8am to unveil some new local film events you'll want to check out.

Rest up this week... Friday's FLICKER is sure to crunk you up.

FLICKER
This Friday, Jan. 16
9pm at the Howlin Wolf (828 S. Peters)

See you at the show,
Jeremy
